A Sea Change is taking place in North Sea oil & gas. Senior stakeholders across the value chain agree that the North Sea does have a future. However, a number of fundamental issues will need to be addressed in the next 24 months if the basin is to avoid a rapid and premature decline. Natural gas demand grew at a remarkable clip last year, increasing by %, its highest growth rate since the beginning of the decade. Future growth will be more measured, supported by economic expansion in emerging markets – especially in Asia – and sustained policy support in the People’s Republic of China to battle air pollution.

The North Sea is regarded as a mature basin. While oil and gas firms cut costs in the area amid the downturn that followed the crude price fall from to , it is still seen as a relatively expensive area to operate in. The Rystad forecast is based on an analysis of recent announcements by more than oil and gas companies around the world.   The Southern North Sea is well placed to support the energy transition and meet the UK’s dual challenge of increasing energy demands with a lower carbon footprint, the chief executive of OGUK will say at a key industry conference tomorrow.

Offshore staff. LONDON – North Sea oil and gas production should increase this year and prospects look good for exploration and investment across the sector, according to consultant Wood Mackenzie.. Neivan Boroujerdi, principal analyst, North Sea upstream, said: “The buzz that saw $15 billion worth of assets change hands in the North Sea last year – despite global activity falling to its. This webinar will highlight the work that the Oil & Gas Technology Centre’s Net Zero Solution Centre is leading to lay the foundations for a net-zero North Sea. Initial analysis has indicated that the combined hydrogen production, CCUS, offshore renewables and oil & gas opportunities for the basin could be substantial, and provide significant.

Projects which attract less prominence in terms of investment are the longer-cycle ones. Deep water, long-term gas projects are still important, but it's harder for companies to make that commitment to all those segments, hence there is a lot of selectivity in which to take Author: Paul Markwell.
